Review- PLANET OF THE APES: CATACLYSM VOL. 3 TP

PLANET OF THE APES: CATACLYSM VOL. 3

(Boom Studios, 2014; Softcover)

Collects Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm Nos. 9-12 (cover dates May- August, 2013)

Writers: Corinna Beckho and Gabriel Hardman

Artists: Damian Coucerio with inks on #11 and 12 by Mariana Taibo

Colorist: Darrin Moore

The end is the beginning is the end. The circle is complete, and this prequel to the original movies becomes a sequel of sorts and ends in a fitting manner. This was a satisfying series, and I am sad that Boom has either pulled the plug on and/or lost the license to for more Apes comics.

(UPDATE 7/12- Boom has just announced a new Apes series, starting this fall!)
Junk Food For Thought rating: 4.25 out of 5.

The OCD zone- Standard trim size trade paperback.

DVD-style Extras included in this book: The covers are collected in the back of the book, and each one has the line art without color and renderings on the page next to it. Pretty neat. (4 pages of bonus material)

Paper rating: 5 out of 5. Thick glossy coated stock.

Binding rating: 4.5 out of 5. Sewn binding, seven stitches per signature.

Cardstock cover coating rating: 4.5 out of 5. Dull matte finish coated stock, seems sufficiently scuff resistant.
