Review- LET ME IN: CROSSROADS

LET ME IN: CROSSROADS (Dark Horse, 2011; Softcover)

Collects Let Me In: Crossroads Nos. 1-4 (cover dates December, 2010- March, 2011)

Writer: Marc Andreyko

Artist: Patric Reynolds

Colorist: Dave Stewart

I never got around to seeing Let The Right One In or it's US remake, Let Me In. I always meant to but stuff gets by me all the time. I am more likely to buy a comic book than a DVD, so here I am.

Having never seen the film, I cannot comment on continuity or faithfulness to the source material. This review will be strictly about the four issues which comprise this book. This prequel mini-series takes place in a small town in Indiana in 1982, where Thomas lives with his “daughter” Abby. Only Abby is not his daughter. They never really explain their relationship or why Thomas finds her victims to feed on. That aside, I really enjoyed this. The writing, artwork, and coloring are all top notch. This is a slick, fast paced read with plenty of punchy, violent vampire goodness.
Junk Food For Thought rating: 4.25 out of 5.

The OCD zone- This book is slightly smaller and slightly narrower than a standard trade paperback. I believe that the industry term is GN-TPB.

DVD-style Extras included in this book: #1-4 Photo cover variants, placed immediately after the regular issue covers in their proper chapter marker places. (4 pages)
Sketchbook by Patric Reynolds. (10 pages)

Paper rating: 4.5 out of 5. Nice weight coated stock paper.

Binding rating: 4 out of 5. Perfect bound trade paperback.

Cardstock cover coating rating: 4 out of 5. The dull matte finish coating is prone to shelfwear.

or the novel it was based on:

or that the creator had not known about this and was furious: http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2010/04/let-the-right-one-in-author-fu.html

but to learn that he should have had "a magnifying glass"
